351 WINCHESTER June 14, 2012, 06:58 PM I posted on the gunsmith section of THR recentely as I have a ROA with an alum. gripframe that I would like to swap out with a steel one. Much to my suprise most didn't know that Ruger made some alum. frame guns. They still do in most of their single action guns too (blued).
Would an alum. gun be worth more due to it's relative "rarity" or less because it's cheap alum.?
I would love to swap it out for a brasser of steel, but I cannnot locate either.

AJumbo June 14, 2012, 08:17 PM I believe Brownells or Power Custom can help you with a brass grip frame.
HUnter58 June 14, 2012, 08:23 PM There are a lot more aluminum ROA out there and not that rare. Swap it out and keep the alum. frame and put it back to the original state if you should decide to sell. The top one in the picture, I swapped out the alum frame for a stainless. I now have another one with stainless as well. I like the extra weight.

Malachi Leviticus Blue June 14, 2012, 08:49 PM I believe all Blued ROA's had Aluminum grip frames until 1985 except for the few early Brass frame ones that are indeed sought after.
4v50 Gary June 15, 2012, 12:11 AM The brass frame ones were rare in '76. That's why I settled for stainless.
