Been looking at the Zeiss Orion surplus night vision and the Russian surplus NSPU 1PN34 .
Both seem to be about the rarity and price and resaleability but cant find any real pros and cons of each.
Any personal experiences, opinions or thoughts?

About anything affordable surplus is going to be Gen1 or Gen2 night vision technology.
Nothing to get excited about. IMO:
If you want to really see in the dark, you need Gen3 or later.

My first question is always... what power requirements and is it commonly available or interchangeable?
I've know more than a couple a folk to get excited and get some of the older external power source models having not investigated beforehand.

wouldn't by anything less than gen2+........what kind of warranty are they giving you? Can you get replacement parts? be wary of foreign NV gear. I saved for a PVS-14 and never looked back.
