Dear THR,
I have USP and TacOpps, both. However, for quite sometime I have been looking make one of those as my standard go to gun. I have not been able to decide which one. However the there are two different things I like on both guns. On Sig I like the SRT, and on USP I like the thread barrel as I can use the sound suppressor.

What do you think of these two guns?

Thanks

HKs are fine pistols, but the USP just does not "fit" me - never felt comfortable in my hands.

The Sig is also excellent, and you can likely find a threaded barrel to drop into the p226 (see for example http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig_p226-replacement-barrel-9mm-threaded.html)

The USP has a polymer frame. The 226 TacOps has an alloy frame. The 226 TacOps variant has a beavertail frame (which I personally don't like), while the USP does not.

Go with the one that fits you hand best. Both are exellent pistols, but the one that best fits will be more comfortable to shoot, and easier to shoot accurately.

Well first off the HK will make you smell funny. On a serious note I have a Sig Tac ops. The sights are great the trigger is good, I haven't felt a da/sa trigger that was awesome. The slide release is in what I feel to be the best spot you don't have to stretch to hit it. I never really liked the HK mag release, the trigger is a bit gritty compared to the Sig, and the price is just hype. I would go with the Sig great sights, the SRT trigger, and four magazines you can't beat it.

I think he was teasing the HK fanboyz. :) Again, if the p226 feels right in your hands, go for it.

If the HK USP feels better, go that direction. I really wanted a USP until I held one and got to try it on the range. First time I held the Sig, I knew it was right for me, and Sigs have ever since been my go-to guns for HD, range, IDPA competition, and daily carry.

With the stated purpose of "standard go-to gun" I assume you mean for HD or range use. You also mention mounting a can in your post, but don't state to what end. I honestly don't know how much it would matter; either gun would serve you well.
