In the past, I've collected/sold/bartered/sporterized Mosins, Mausers, ect but never got around to getting an 88.
A employee of mine had this one and I traded him an older Canon 35 mm camera for it.
The bore is beautiful with sharp rifling, turked 1890 Loewe. The shroud is in good shape with the exception
being a few small dents (can this be pushed back out?) The underlying barrel has zero rust.
The stock appears to be a beautiful black walnut with good grain. Need to get some Rem. or Win 8mm
to shoot this weekend. Barrel band translates to 33rd rifle assigned to the 7th comp. of the 20th infantry
regiment. Butter smooth bolt operation.

This rifle has been upgraded to the spitzer round. Besides, the new factory 8mm is in fact not as hot as most surplus.

Nice rifle, let us know how she shoots. Mine is a very accurate rifle, and as you mention, a butter smooth bolt.
