Taken at about 300 meters, so I had to blow it up a bit, nonetheless, a very nice atypical buck.

Not sure you can really tell if he is a Non-Typical at that stage of antler development (1/2 grown and in velvet), but I'll take your word for it.

Should make a nice buck.

I would say by the looks of him, he is going to have a Non-Typical set of antlers..............

Nice looking young buck. But unless he's in an area he won't make it this season, I'd wait at least 3 or 4 years before I harvested him. He should really be something then.

I tend to agree altho in 4 years he may already be comin' back down. The difference of a coupla years is the difference between a great non-typical and just another scrubhorn.

Looks to be a 3-1/2 year old buck and honestly...I don't know how you guys can judge him to be a Typical or Non-Typ at this stage is his antler development.

By the end of August...yes. But right now...all I can tell from the pics (unless I'm missing something) is that on his left side he MAYBE will have split G-1, his G2 and G3 are forming and he hasn't yet done anything on the right side, BUT his antlers are no where near having reached their final shape or length, he's in velvet.

What are the distinguishing features that make him a Non-typ at this point?

I would bet he will be a non-typical just by the uneven antler growth at this point. But I would not bet a lot.

A bigger blow up, hope this clarifies things a bit, I count five & two, though certainly, he's not done growing em, nonetheless, I have no doubts whatsoever that he's not catching up to the left side, not at this stage.

Watch and see. ^^^^^^^

I'd wager he will be a main-frame eight when its all done, it is way too early to determine he will be non-typ unless you have shed antlers or pictures of him last year.

Keep an eye on him..it will be interesting.
