Figured I'd share my newest addition, a pretty unique piece. This was one of those M31s sold by TG International a couple years back...but in reality, they were put together by TNW Firearms. I found this out after I called TGI...but more on that later.

Came with 2 36 round stick mags, the original TN Guns case, and a whole bunch of Ruskie ammo -

...all for the low price of $400 off a friend of a friend.

Impressions? Heavy trigger, maybe 10-12 lbs., but I don't really mind. Weight - she's a heavy one, that's for sure. Probably about the same weight as, or possibly even heavier than my M44 Nagant. Wood looks pretty good, the park job is alright...might take some 0000 steel wool to clean it up and smooth it out a little.

Took it out for the first time today - man oh man, this thing is criminally fun. Was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy too.

However - after the first 20-30 rounds, the trigger wouldn't reset. I'd have to manually push it back forward. Tried some Remington UMC instead of the Ruskie surplus stuff, same thing. Annoying. Called TGI, who then referred me to TNW because of the reason stated above, they said a transfer bar in the trigger assembly (striker fired gun) had to be dremeled a little smoother...or something to that effect. I'm exhausted and was half-listening to the guy (sorry!) cause I was cooking pizza. :p

I took it apart just to see what's what in there for the heck of it, put it back together, and figure I'll give it another shot. If it does it again, TNW said to ship them the trigger assembly. Or...if somebody has any feedback, experiences, or solutions with this issue, please help me out.

Not necessarily the start I was looking for, but I'm really not too concerned about it. An annoyance for sure, but I have other guns to keep me occupied even if this is out of commission for a little while.

It's one bad lookin rifle. Tons of fun. :D

Well TNW seems to know their product and how to quickly and easily get it working again, that's a plus.

Nice that they aren't telling you to just send them the whole gun.

Congrats on a fine weapon at a good price. Love mine so much I got 2. Mine shoot well with no problems after break in (bolt sticking after it got hot). No recoil because of the heft. I have yet to use the 71 round drum, but the stick and coffin mags work great.
TGI/TNW has had some trigger/spring issues, but they seem to stand by there product and fix and return them in a reasonable time frame, from what I have read elsewhere.
There are a few good videos on youtube.com about these rifles.
Enjoy yours.:)

I love the lighter colored stock. Beautiful. :)

Hopefully I could get some more range time today, provided it isn't packed (like it almost always is...that's CT for ya).

Congrats and good luck. I really appreciate this thread.

I am fascinated by the Soumi. Been considering one for years

The weight is a put off, as I am spoiled by my M1 carbine and Ruger PC 9.

Still! One of these years, I will get a wild hair and snag one.

Cool to see a little interest in these. :)

Took it out on Saturday, unfortunately the trigger still won't reset so I'm going to send the trigger group back to TNW.

I had 3 range officers asking me about it...."what caliber?" "Does it take Uzi mags?" "What country is it from?"

As stated before, she's a heavy little heifer. It's definitely heavier than my M44 Nagant, now that I think about it. Doesn't bother me much though, because it's that much fun....besides, unless you're planning on standing for extended periods of time, or running around with it slung across your back, it's plenty easy to shoot while seated. Heck, it's a novelty gun of sorts anyways....lets call a spade a spade here. :) But to me, the "cool factor" is off the charts.

" But to me, the "cool factor" is off the charts."
TRUE DAT!
Btw, I also have 2 original parts kits with the shorter barrel shrouds and barrels which can be changed out in minutes. ;)
