I enjoyed pulling together this video providing a fairly thorough overview of the history, feature, functions and, yes, controversy surrounding the Beretta 92 platform. It features accuracy demonstrations and shooting demonstrations. Hope you like it. Let me know what you think and please chime in here or on the channel with any stories of your personal experiences with the Beretta 92, or as it is known in the military, the M9. As always, I welcome your constructive criticism.

Interesting and fun to watch. I wasnt even aware of what the standard military sidearm was.

Thanks, very informative. I turned down the 92 because it felt "brickish" in my hands compared to my 1911's and CZ's. I'll have to give it another look.

or as it is known in the military, the M9.

The M9 is different than the 92. They aren't the same pistol due to slight differences.

Good video, well done.

As for the 92, it's a good gun and I like mine, but it's far from being my first choice in a service/combat 9mm. S&W 5906 is my #1.

Haven't watched the whole video. I opted for a Vertec. Just as a spare 9mm. The real issue was changing to a 9mm for the military and of course cheapest contractor. Was part of the process but don't feel like all that typing. It is a good gun for it's purpose.

Good video. I really like my 92FS. It's an interesting, handsome pistol and a sweet shooter.

I have short fingers so it's a little bit of a reach for that first DA shot, but after that it feels really great in my hand.

The only difference is the roll marks.

The straight dustcover frame is still being used on current production 92FS models. Plus early 92F/FS models used the 2-dot sight system which doesn't make it unique to the M9.

The M9 is the same pistol as the M92. "M9" is the military designation for the M92, which is the civilian/LEO version.

When we speak of "minor differences" we do not refer to pistols or rifles being "different" but "variants."

You could say, "The M9 is a M92 variant," but you would be wrong. If however you say, "The M92A1 is a M92 variant" then you are correct.

Similarly in the military the M9A1 is a variant of the M9.

Make sense?

Make sense?

Yes, should have said it was a variant.
