Saw a Ruger P-94 for 259 bucks. .40 S&W.
Good gun? Good Price?
Looks in decent shape except for scratching where it wasn't covered by holster. Just a couple of small but deep scratches.
THANKS - Jim

THanks guys. I don't have anything in .40 cal. I thought this might be a good way to get a good gun at a low price. It's used, and I usually like to buy new with semi-autos, but I don't think it's going to be a calliber I use as much as 9mm. Just think I should own one.

OK, I went ahead and bought the Ruger!
I don't think the gun has been fired much - the bore looks excellent. In fact, I KNOW it hasn't been fired much, because it has the same rough surface on the side of the barrel lug that my P-95 has. This surface gets worn smooth as the gun gets used/the slide gets racked. It's not nearly as smooth as my p-95, which only has 400 rounds through it or thereabouts.
Just scraps and nicks on the bottom of the grip frame. I suspect it was a security guard's gun, because the wear is typical of holster use on a stainless gun - only the exposed parts get nicked up. But police officers usually target practice more than this guy did. Not bad for $259, iI think! THANKS for the positive input everyone - it helped me decide.

Shot the Ruger P-94 today, and it was fantastic. Flatnose bullets all chambered perfectly and the gun shot very accurately. Probably the best $250 I've ever owned, or will ever own.
Are round nose bullets common in .40 cal, or rare? Couldn't find any at the places I went. Never owned a .40 before. As long a what I've got chambers okay, I guess I don't care.
