I hate Walther.
...
They put out all this cool stuff when I have hardly any money to begin with!
Seriously, I would love it if it didn't have that abomination of a shoulder-stock. Still probably going to buy one.

It isn't exactly pretty, but I'd say it is better looking than that Hi-Point and the OD Puke Glock.

If Walther made a G99 version, I would buy it but then it might cost $1,000.00 or more since it is German and probably a rebadged S&W.
Some might consider it ugly but guns are starting to evolve to a more space age look. The u.s. military might adopt the XM8 which looks like something out of a Sci Fi movie.
Why is there a Weaver Style Rail on the Front Sight Mount?

The G22 does use P22 magazines and has a spot to store a spare in the stock just behind where the "in use" magazine fits.
While the G22 does look somewhat similar to the Beretta, High Point, etc, I don't think any of these others are bullpup designs that give you the advantage of short overall length AND a long barrel. Since I understand that .22 LR ammo doesn't gain much velocity after about 16", I wish Walther had maximized the bullpup design advantage by giving it a 16" rather than 20" barrel, but maybe that would make the overall length too short to be legal.
Many accessories are shown in the Walther catalog - including a laser made for the rifle that fits at the end of the forestock just under and behind the muzzle and looks like an extension of the stock. Walther also shows various standard looking optics available as packages. Also, the G22 is shown in both black and OD green versions. The rear sight slides down into the carry handle when not needed. It also has a built-in lock that uses the same key as the P22.
I've attempted to attach a photo I scanned from the Walther literature, but I've never done this before and don't know if it will work.

JR (or anyone),
I have a couple of photos I scanned and would be happy to post if you could tell me how. I've tried this a couple of times, but never got it to work. It looks to me like the photos my have to have a web address (URL) to be posted. I just have JPEG files on my PC.

It does come in a left handed version.
I would like to see larger pics of the laser and scope.

Here's the picture DougB sent. It distorts when I change it to html for some reason. Hopefully you can see the mounted laser and scope. The light mount appears to be a 1" scope ring.

It does kinda look like a boat paddle but depending on price I would probably get one. Will have to see it and feel it first. Not sure either which will look best, green or black.

One other feature of the G22 that I don't think has been mentioned yet is that the stock is adjustable via adding or removing spacers. I'm not sure if there are multiple spacers, or just one, but you can adjust the length of the buttstock.

Doug B, I agree that 4" should be removed from the barrel.
I saw a more compact scope for it. Is the compact scope made by Walther? Or is the compact scope the red dot sight?

It's important to be able to hang lasers and flashlights on .22 plinkers, so that you can perform Xtreme tactical assaults on hordes of tin cans.

Damn. This, much like the Beretta Storm CX-4 is considered a pistol in MI due to the length and will have to be registered as such.

The more spacers one adds to the buttstock, the better it would work as a boat paddle, adding more surface area, etc. Wonder if it would float like the AR-7? :scrutiny:

Im not bothered by the stock. I like having the option to change the length of the stock and I like having an extra mag in the stock. But there's no need for a lithium flashlight or a laser on the g22 and there are too many rails on it. I hope there is something I can buy to cover up the front rail. I think Walther/SW is trying too hard to make it mall ninja tactical looking.
Do you guys think $395.00 MSRP is high if the G22 turns out to be a rebadged S&W?
