Just got it today and DAMN. I know AKs ain't supposed to be pretty but I just can't get over how nice this one is. Didn't have to clean it right out fo the box like most AKs.

This one is even nicer looking then my prebee Polytech. Thank god I've got a field AK for grunt word cause this one is just too damn nice looking.

That looks about 100% better than most Kalashnikovs I've seen. What brand is it?

Arsenal USA. Best looking of my 5 other AKs. Only my preban Romanian Intrac II AK74 looks "almost" as good. These are built in the USA (Oh the irony of a commie block gun made in the US, while US guns are made in commie block countries) using Hungarian FEG receivers, Bulgarian parts, a NEW Polytech barrel and enough high quality US parts to be compliant. Assembled and finished in the US at Arsenal USA.

I thought Arsenal USA used Bulgy milled receivers:confused: It's a very nice looking rifle regardless.

L-R: Preban Bulgarian AK47, Blond Arsenal AK47, Preban Romanian Intrac II AK74, Egyptian Maadi AK47 (grunt gun).

My other AK is a full auto preban Title II Polytech AK47 conversion. But it's in the back of my NFA safe and I don't feel like digging it out.

Very nice. Did you consider anything from Kreb's? I am considering them for a VEPR II conversion.

Your NFA safe? You're gonna make us all jealous.;)

Triad, they ran out of those LONG AGO. For awhile they were using Ohio Ordnance receivers (good receiver but lacks the collectibility " cool factor" of a commie block one).

Currently they are using Hungarian FEG receivers while they last. I missed out on the Bulgarian milled ones so I jumped on this one.

Expect to spend twice what a REAL SAR costs for one of these. Keeping in mind that the current so called Sar 1-3s are nothing more than WASR10 conversions and pure junk.

Triad, I got all kinds of safes. ;)

rock jock, while there is NOTHING wrong with them the VEPRs just don't do it for me.

Thanks for posting that link. I really don't understand why CAI doesn't have any competition. Seems to me that someone who could turn out a product made by sober monkeys that was advertised truthfully could put them out of business.

SteyrAUG

Triad, most guys are in the gun business not the junk business. Not everyone wants to scrap the bottom of the barrel for the opportunity to make a $15.00 profit. And that is why CAI has little competition except for other junk dealers like Hesse and FAC.

But there will be no shortage of guys willing to pony up $300 for that hunk o crap and the same guys could never conceive of spending twice that on something as nice as the Arsenal USA guns.

SteyrAUG

Schuey2002, the Egyptian does the grunt work.

Wildalaska, they are currently only available in 7.62 and I don't quote dealer prices. They retail around $550.00 give or take. If you happen to be a FFL by all means register over at full-auto.com as a dealer and we'll make sure you get the full briefing in the FFL Forum.

Quit drooling over the pic and read the text under it. :D

Far right is the Egyptian Maadi with the 40 rounder in it. It is my "Wow it's really muddy when it rains this hard" gun.

Man, not a huge fan of the 7.62X39 caliber but that RPK in Arsenal's link looks mighty nice. Must consider.

Are you sure that the Romanian is a pre-ban. If it is, it's the first I have ever heard of. How about some pics of the receiver markings?

SteyrAUG
January 31, 2003, 11:42 PM
Hoploholic, positive. But not a pre89, a pre94. Romanian Intrac II, but I believe the original Intracs were pre89.

So I called Arsenal and told the boys that we were gonna get $500 AKs....the head gunwrench said, heck why dont we just get $200 AKs..I said, because these are better and $200 ones are crappy..His reply..

Its an AK for :cuss: sake...you load thirty rounds, drop it in the mud, beat it, all AKs are crap so you might as well get a cheap one..

He does have a point..

If reliability is bad...I don't ever want anything good :D Your friend may have something though...the higher price is pretty much for better finish work.

Understood Augie...thanks for the reply.
