Guy says its a Modelo 1927. I'm not buying it. (figuratively, literally I just might. Need a summer project)

Ballester Molina

An Argentine variant (spin off) of the 1911 intended as a less-costly pistol to supplement the Pistola Colt Modelo 1927. Some parts interchange with the 1911, others do not.

And a fair price for one in this condition?

depends what you are buying it for, pristine collector to the right person 1500+
that gun, as a beater 300-400, try for less, you may get it,

ALSO, make sure it works, have somebody who KNOWS B-M 1927's look it over

Yeah, but question is, how much is cosmetic rattle wear, and how much is functional wear, it has been refinished at least once, it was rather heavily rusted, you can see the pitting under the PAINT, frankly consider what a Filipino 1911 might cost 400 NEW, and what this guy wants, and decided on the price yourself, that said, google the blue book of gun value and the other references and the specific model, you usually get something useable in the preview.

Not having handled it and considering it a "project" gun as you do, I'd probably pop for $180 on it.

FWIW, only a few slide parts interchange with standard M1911 parts, so rebuilding a B-M using 1911 lockwork parts will be impossible.
