Hmm... I think that I should give this some careful thought... Wait, what am I saying?! My completely irrational short list is:

1. A G3
2. A Galil in .308
3. A Ruger Super Redhawk in .44 Mag, or somethin' in .454 Casull. Or .45-70. If I have to build it myself, I don't really care...

(subject to change without notice)

1. Browning Composite Stalker --- 30-06

2. Browning BLR --- 7mm-08

3. Ruger M77 Hawkeye Sporter --- 300 Win Mag

It will probably be a little longer than 6 months before I pick up the last two. I'm getting the Browning Composite Stalker this weekend in a trade, then after that I've gotta save up for scopes on a few hunting rifles I just picked up including the Browning.

S&W M&P9 compact.

Only two models I plan on buying in the near future. In the distant future, S&W M&P15 Sport.

Not a S&W fanboi, it's just that both the M&P pistol and the M&P rifle would be the easiest to modify with aftermarket parts to get as close to what I want out of a handgun and long gun.

I am poor. It takes me more than 6 months to save up for a new pair of shoes. So if that is the criteria, I really don't have a "short list." Aside from finishing the guns I have, there are a few guns I have my eye on. I am thinking I'll probably have to wait until next tax season for my next new firearm purchase. This is fine because the gun on the top of the list isn't even projected by the manufacture to be available in this country until sometime next year. According to the CZ rep, the P-02 9mm is coming 2013 though:D

After that, I've had my eye on the Ruger Redhawk 4" .44 Mag for a while. And I would like to get another semi-auto rifle before our Congress-critters start banning the things again. Right now the SIG 556R and the CZ VZ58 go back and forth at the top of that heap. We'll see.

The first one I'm dreaming about is a "movie gun", the .45-110 that Tom Selleck used in "Quiglley Down Under".

Second would be a 30-06 bolt action. As I haven't actually looked for one yet, I don't have any make or model in mind - - - yet! :D

Third - - haven't gotten that far yet! ;)

From the first post in this thread;

Short list meaning you are probably buying these within the next 6 months.

Actually I'm good. Yep, I know that sounds ludicrous but it's a fact Jack....

I probably went a little crazy in the first couple of years because I didn't know what I wanted to do with my shooting hobby. So I went off in directions that have since proven to be less than interesting to my tastes. Currently my ownership list is up around 45. So it could be argued very easily that I've got more than I need.

I'm actually at the point that I know where I want to go now and a good half dozen or maybe as many as 8 firearms will be posted for sale soon. I just need to get caught up on some projects and then lay them all out in front of me and see which I can do without.

... of course this in no way suggests that something shiney won't turn my head and end up added to the collection. In fact they don't even need to be shiney. Simply interesting in some small way is good enough for me.

Yes, I'm weak and easily led astray... :D

Made my "list" years ago and with one exception, they're all here. :) The remaining one, a P210, I've had the chance but the price just made me think "do I really need this". Thus my "gotta get" list is complete. The "like to have" list...I guess, maybe...

Rossi Ranch Hand
Ruger Bisley -> .32 mag

Doubtful I'll find these here anytime soon as I'm at the point where I have what I want and am looking more at acquiring the memorabilia than more actual firearms. Quantity? ...nah, give me quality. Plans are to have a few of what I have already made into what I'd really want so projects are planned or in progress. Also concentrating more on using my "gun fund" on stuff for my son.

Ruger 22/45.

Don't know if finishing a gun you've been building counts, but I'm also close to finishing an AR-15 mid-length build.

Short list meaning you are probably buying these within the next 6 months.

Mine are:

S&W 686 plus 2.5"
Springfield XDS
Ruger SR22

Yours?
I've got 3 on layaway now. After these come off layaway about the only thing that would entice me to buy another gun this year would be if a S&W model 57 became available or a Marlin 1894 FG in 41 magnum.

Guns on layaway are: Ruger Carbine in 44mag, S&W 17-4 with a 5 inch barrel and a S&W model 29-3 with a 8 3/8 inch barrel.

It'll be longer than six months, particularly if'n the missus has anything to say about it, but as follows:
1. 3 1/2 inch Cimarron Thunderer in .45 Colt as a companion piece to my Model P. (This will prolly happen in the next couple months. Shhh!)

2. Another DA .22 revolver, or some patience with the tight chambers of my 17-4. Then I could look for one of the Rossi lever guns in .45 Colt, see above. Those choices are similar enough to count as one, right? :neener:

3. My M1 keeps telling me that I need to get an M1 Carbine. I try not to listen, but who am I to argue with such a respected old warhorse? I need to do a LOT more homework before I take that plunge, however.

In the meantime, I have blown the right now gun budget on the beginnings of a reloading setup, so's I gotta shoot what I got.
