I had one and sold it.....regret it ever since....but they are nice guns especially for the price. Mine just needed new springs.

Yeah, forgot the spring.

Did change to an 18# recoil spring which seemed to 'tighten' up the action and improve 'felt' recoil.

Considered changing the hammer spring as has been discussed; but the trigger has really broken-in nicely and starting the DA from half-cock (ok for this gun) makes the DA very smooth w/ the right feel/tension.

Good CZ, excellent holster. I sold my 40B for a 97B. Never looked back..the
1911 grip angle wasn't to my liking. The big CZ in .45 ACP fits me 3 x
better.

Hello WVleo,

After some 6-800 rnds the cycling of the slide seemed 'loose' during firing w/ the stock spring. (concensus is most CZ's are undersprung)

The 18# spring provided a tremendous improvement.
Overall feel & accuracy seemed to improve along w/ felt recoil.
(accuracy was probably me; easy when only one way to go)


Ordered the 18# for the Witness (CZ-75) and ended up cutting 7 coils off to prevent stacking.

Some have cut coils, some have not. I based the cutting upon what had read mainly on the 1911 forum about not wanting the spring to completely compress (ie: stack) prior to a complete cycle of the slide.

Assuming your an LEO.
Are you going to use the 40B as a duty weapon?

You know, I was so tempted to buy one of these a few months ago, but just can't get past their uncanny resemblance to a large metallic boomerang. I guess that's not all bad. If you run out of ammo or it jams you could always fling it at the bad guy's head and catch it on the return a la "Crocodile Dundee". :neener:

If you cut coils, its no longer an 18 lb spring.

The rating is how much force it exerts when compressed to its working length.

Hi, No Not a cop , worse a CURATOR ! Birth name and astrology sign is Leo ! Ran another 200 rds thru the 40B today . The 2 CZ40B mags and the .41 witness mag came today , along with the Don Hume J.I.T. cz-76 . Everything worked great except for the eea witness mag ,opened up the mag catch and that worked great , but it won't feed a round . Looks like the top back needs to be opened up more like the cz mags . Got to get a new file for that tommorow. I like the hakan grips , but the ones i like were $80 , so it looks like the stock grips for a while . Right now I am spending the extra cash on ammo .........WVleo

I think you should send me straight to the gun store w/out dinner and buy a CZ-75 as punishment. :D

However, in my defense.
Eric did not have a mold for the 40B at the time and still do need to step up to the plate for Hakan's grips.

Recently saw a post w/ half-and-halfs in a California Buckeye on a 1911 that were just 'nuts'. (half the battle is deciding on which grip)

PS: Can someone write me a note for the wife exclaiming that I'm being rediculed for not having the quintisential CZ-75 in my possesion and need to correct this situation ASAP. :rolleyes:
