Videcki trigger screw

I have a Colt 1911 SEries 80 Govt Model customized back in 1997. One of the improvements was installation of the Videcki trigger. I see theres a screw on the bottom which can be adjusted using an allen wrench . Is this to shorten the travel or slack if turn clockwise ? Sorry to ask this, i ve never mess with it since that long. Im tempted to adjust it but i remember the gunsmith told me it is locktight to keep it from backing off. Also the trigger pull weight breaks around 3.5 lbs .

That is the overtravel adjustment screw and does not affect pull weight. Once properly adjusted it should be LocTite'd in place and forgotten unless it loosens over time. Overtravel is the rearward movement of the trigger shoe after the sear's disengagement.
There is a necessary amount for safety and yes, turning it in will decrease the travel. Turning in too far can damage the sear or worse cause the pistol to rapid-fire uncontrollably.

I'd leave it alone too.. you're likely to just bend the little allen wrench or strip it trying to get it loose and then you'd just have to clean it (were you to be able to loosen it) and re-loctite it and hope you did better than the smith.
