Swing July 12, 2012, 11:25 PM I've always had mucho love for the Ithaca Auto & Burglar. Though, I'd prefer a different style grip. I remember back in the early 2000s an outfit making an updated version (in 12 gauge not 20 gauge) of the A&B, but they appear to be long out of business.
So, is anyone making a SxS AOW shorty like the A&B these days or is a double-gun, a Form 1/related paperwork, and a $200 tax stamp a fella's only option?
Thanx. :D

Swing July 13, 2012, 09:48 AM Couldn't think of the name when posting, but Denny's Guns was the one's I was thinking of. Are they common on the NFA market?
forindooruseonly July 13, 2012, 02:00 PM Here's the thread on the one I ended up building as a SBS. I know you're looking for an AOW, but I managed to build this one on a Form 1 for around $550, tax included. The Denny's guns I've seen for sale run around that or higher anyway, and they don't pop up very often. I'd be curious as to what the guns that Quiet found in CA cost.
When I was looking, it ended up being easier and just as cost effective to make one into an SBS. However, if you live in a location that allows AOWs but not SBSs, then you don't have much choice but to find a Denny's gun or buy the read deal Ithaca. I'm not aware of any other double barrel AOW makers.

rcmodel July 13, 2012, 02:38 PM Though, I'd prefer a different style grip. There was a method to the madness of that grip design.
Shoot one like the one pictured above and it will slide back through your grip and hurt you when the release lever buries itself in the web of your hand.

smkummer July 15, 2012, 09:42 AM An advantage to a AOW is the $5 tax stamp. If you form 1 the gun its a $200 stamp.
forindooruseonly July 15, 2012, 03:40 PM Yeah, the tax to transfer is cheaper, but there aren't that many AOW double barrels floating around. The old original Ithacas and the Denny's guns are about it. As such the price on them is pretty high - you're looking at 8k for a real auto&burglar, and the last Denny's gun I saw was priced about $750 a few years ago. You can Form 1 a used shotgun for much cheaper. Also, the $5 tax applies only to transfer. If you build an AOW, it's still $200.
Hey Quiet, how much did that store want for the Denny's guns?
Quiet July 16, 2012, 01:09 PM hey quiet, how much did that store want for the denny's guns?
$1200 :(
Swing July 16, 2012, 06:31 PM Ouch, yah, the Form 1 route seems much simpler/cheaper.
forindooruseonly July 16, 2012, 11:41 PM Wow, they've shot up in price! Thanks for answering that question for us!
