Yup, Fedex. UPS WILL NOT accept MGs for shipment from/to anyone, licensed or otherwise.

Oh they'll accept it all right, but if they lose it they won't pay on the insurance claim.

United States Postal Service - Registered Mail-Insured by other is how i shipped. Everyone that comes in contact with the package will have to sign. The dealer i shipped it to, had the insurance. The USPS does NOT need to know what is in the box.

I might be wrong, but if you don't declare it you can't collect on insurance. Having said that, I have had no problems using USPS in the past. I would have my dealer ship it USPS so everything is legal.

With UPS, yes you have to declare a firearm. Federal law requires that a common carrier be notified as to contents being a firearm. With USPS that's not necessary, as 351 Winchester said, they don't care what's in the package. USPS commonly carries very valuable merchandise like diamonds, precious metals, cash, and the like by registered mail. A few years back, everything including cash being shipped between banks and Federal Reserve Banks went by mail. There wasn't any other way except Railway Express and trains didn't go everywhere. The Post Office did.

If it's not too late, have the firearm appraised at a gun shop or dealer before you ship it. It'll go a long way in establishing the value of gun if something happens.
