I just ordered a brand new saiga AK from atlantic i dont know how long it will take to get here but hopfully i will have it by the end of the week. This is my first brand new gun and since its going to be my new pride and joy i want to treat it right so i am wondering how in depth i need to clean it before my first shooting if i need to tear the entire thing apart or just clean the grease out of the barrel and action. I have never had a new gun so the help is much appreciated.

Here's the link if you want to take a gander at it

Tear it down and clean the preservative oil & grease off everything.
All the excess will just collect more drit & grime from firing and keep it in there.

Then re-lube with real gun oil and go shooting.

Field strip, clean and lube. And, while you are at it, look at everything and make sure it's OK. Do the same after each firing.
