I'm thinking about grabbing one of these to work up loads at the range as I don't want to drag one of my electronic scales from home. Anyone have an opinion? I like the size and price, any thoughts?

For range use it should be fine if + or - 0.1 grains is all you're looking for. A Jennings Mack 20 shows resolution to 0.02 grains, is battery operated, and has a generous dust cover that's usable with the weight on the load call. Can't close the cover on the Hornady with anything on the load cell, so you're at the mercy of the wind. http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/jennings-jscale-mack-20.html

I have the Hornady GS-1500, a Cabela's EG-1500, a Jennings Mack 20 and a RCBS 5-0-2.
I've used the GS-1500 a total of 2 times as I found it to be inconsistent, even after a "proper" warm-up period.
The Jennings Mack 20 along with my RCBS 5-0-2 are my goto scales both of which I use when I hand measure my rifle powder charges and verify my Hornady powder measure for my handgun loads.

I've been using the GS-1500 for some time now and often compared it to my RCBS balance beam style. I find it pretty easy and dependabul personally. Weak batteries are the main cause of inconsistant measurement with all electronic scales so I keep them on hand. I also check mine when I first start it up with the weight that comes with it. My only complant with it or any batter operated devise is the battery saver routines which often turn it off if not used in a given time. I'm still looking for a plug in version that I like.

I have been using one for a while now. I haven't had any accuracy issues. Works well and I wouldnt hesitate to buy another one for $30

I used one for a while, worked fine until one day it started drifting.

That is the main tell on batteries starting to get weak. When I get that new batteries and it works fine again.
