Dear THR:
I have a Sig X5 Allround, I wanted to ask experienced shooters to discuss their preference between it and the Colt Gold Cup. Obviously, the intended purpose is match shooting.

Thanks.

Other competition guns i have include Czechmate and 92 Combat Combi.

I have never had the pleasure of shooting an X5 but have been tempted to buy one in the past. I would venture a guess that the SIG will out shoot the average Gold Cup. To get an equivalent quality 1911 target gun to the X5 you'll need to look to Les Baer, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat etc.

That is an interesting observation. Within Colt which is the best conpetition model?

Never shot the X5, but my goldcup is supremely accurate. I did get an action job on it through Colt though. Not that there was anything wrong with it as it came, I just wanted mine to be a lil mooore....."nice"

I think the most accurate model from Colt is the Special Combat Government

I've handled and shot several X5's, and they are fantastic.

X5 is more accurate. The GC is no more accurate than a GM.

I'd say the SIg - but a 1911 trigger seems to move the gun less when pulling the trigger. So, you may do better with a 1911...
