Had a heckuva range day... also my recently acquired 1300 Defender was given an outing, trying out different loads from 24 gram skeet loads thru sport slugs up to 50 gram turkey loads in 12/76.
Problem: seemingly random failures to eject. The spent shell would sit put in the chamber, the ejector claw wouldn't grip it, it seems, at all. After clearing the next shell from the elevator, cycling the action would always eject the shell properly.
It might be that this happened more often when clear rearward pressure was being applied on the forend during the release of the shot. But it's hard to say. Four different loads from four different manufacturers made no difference; nor did three, albeit inexperienced, different operators.
Sound familiar to anyone? What to do? :scrutiny:
