Any body has any info on the M1 Garand imports from Korea? Like when they will be available? What distributors will have them? What price they will be going for?

Ah, the now infamous Korean M1 Garands, something like 87,000 of them.

Far as I know according to rumor control the guns have been approved for import by the US State Department. As to the importer? Pure speculation on my part but would venture a guess the heavy hitters like CAI (Century Arms International) will figure into this as they were importing M1 Garands from Korea over a decade ago before importation was stopped. Everyone knows large rifles like the Garand exceeding 10 pounds loaded weight and with a fixed 8 round capacity are the choice of criminals.

Just about all major distributors deal with CAI so it is anyone's guess. Years ago by the time the rifles flowed through CAI to a distributor they were going out at about $249 when the flow stopped at dealer's cost (give or take). Currently there is some speculation that these guns would run under the $200 mark but I don't see it that way.

My pure speculation and guess is that they will be well hyped. Long before available distributors will be taking orders from dealers. My pure guess would be they will sell in the $450 plus neighborhood. Again, I could be way, way off target and they may sell in the $200 range, I just don't see it happening. So it becomes a wait and see. Maybe someone else is more abreast of it or current?

I seriously doubt these rifles will sell for much less than what the CMP sells Service Grade Garands for, and they will almost certainly be of lower quality than the CMP rifles.

My advise to anyone would be to quit waiting for the Korean Garands, and purchase a CMP rifle before it's too late.

Absolutely agree. If you want a good dependable rifle that the source will stand behind get yourself a CMP Rifle. If on the off chance there is a problem it will be resolved.

I have my share of experience with the rifles returned from Korea and the ones I worked on left a lot to be desired. These rifles were not exactly stored and preserved under optimal conditions. Many of these Korean returns required extensive work. By the time you get the rifle to being a good reliable and safe to shoot rifle you will well exceed what the CMP will do for you.

I still have take off barrels around here that will literally eat a throat and bore erosion gauge. :)

I should have suggested CMP in my first post. I suggest you heed what Fishbed77 mentions.
