I don't have all that much money, and was thinking about getting my first auto-loader pistol. I saw CZ-82's and Polish P-64's were both good simple handguns. Which do you prefer?
Also, if you have any other ideas for a pistol for about 200$, it would be of great help.
Thanks!

I've had 3 P-64's and 4 CZ82/83.
These guns are very different.
The CZ is a nice all around gun. The finish on most CZ82 is bad but the guns are mostly mechanically solid.

The P-64 has a TERRIBLE double action trigger. The trigger pull can be lightened with a light hammer spring change.
The kick of the P-64 is harsh. Few people ever wanted to shoot more than a couple magazines through my guns.
The P-64 is one of the last guns I'd choose as a first semi.

Off hand I can't think of a decent centerfire gun in the $200 range but the CZ82.
If you want to go 22 for inexpensive shooting and a decent defense gun the Ruger SR22 is a good choice. You can find them for $300, but you will make up the difference in ammo cost quickly.
I liked my first SR22 so well I bought a second one. Having a backyard range I shoot them 4-5 days and evenings a week.

@M2 Carbine
Thanks for all your help!
I think I'm going to go with the CZ-82. Costs the same, but is much better.
I don't plan to carry it. Just want a nice pistol with a little oomph to take to the range now and then.

you might consider saving $100 more and picking up a S&W gen 3. 5906's had been going for $299. Great guns.

I would have to agree along the lines of what Tuj has said. For between $300-$400 you could get a new SIG Pro 2022. Might be worth saving the extra $100 or so now. You will not regret it in the long run.

^^^^agree completely. 2022 is a great buy for 349-399 new.
better to save a little longer and buy once than to buy, sell at a loss and buy again.
There are some good used option on gunbroker, (3rd gen smiths and others) but I always suggest a 2022 for a great all around 9mm.
