I own the new FN made Model 70 featherweight and I like the rifle but the trigger is just too darn heavy, the trigger is adjustable but requires you to remove the action which is bedded to the stock, how does one do this? Secondly how do I actualy make the adjustment and finnaly do I have to re-bed the action to the stock to keep it shooting streight? Nice rifle but the trigger adjustment seems too complex, I am spoiled on Savage and Tikka triggers I guess.

Glass bedding does not mean the action is glued to the stock with epoxy.
Take the action screws out and whack the butt stock a couple of times with your hand.
Be ready to catch the stock when it flies off.

No, you do not have to re-bed the stock when you put it back together.

I have no first-hand knowledge or experience with the new Model 70 trigger.
But it can't be that hard, or they wouldn't have made it adjustable in the first place....

The MOA trigger won't adjust down below 3lbs. My buddy just bought a featherweight in a .243 and we could only get it at a touch over 3lbs. He's looking at a Jared trigger but we don't have enough info on it other than some inleting has to be done to accomodate the pins in the housing. Jewell also makes a unit too. I looks good but it's pricey. Maybe someone will chime in that has tried one of the aftermarket units.

IMO: A touch over 3 pounds is light enough if you need help to get it out of the stock and adjust it lighter!!

when you reassemble the rifle, push the barrel down against the stock while you tighten the action screws. this seats the recoil lug firmly against the stock.

also, don't over-tighten the screws: tighten the receiver screw firmly. then the tang screw firmly. last, the middle action screw just past finger tight, or a bit more.

let us know about the new trigger. sounds like a solution to a non-existent problem.

I just saw this old threat from July, so this is probably too late, but might be of use to others with late model FN-made mode 70s.

You can get a replacement spring for the MOA trigger from
http://www.erniethegunsmith.com, which also has instructions on disassembly and spring replacement.

With that, and a tiny dollop of molybdenum disulfide on the trigger release surface, I have been pretty happy with the trigger pull.

Get two springs. They are inexpensive, and you never know when one of them will fly across the room and disappear into a carpet, not that I would let such a thing happen...

The spring tension adjustment screw is basically irrelevant on the MOA unless you want a *heavier* trigger pull. The internal dimensions of the trigger housing ensure a minimum tension on the spring that keeps it above 3.5 lbs (well above in teh case of my rifle), even with the screw completely removed!

Timney has come out with a replacement for the MOA trigger. It runs $120, an is directly adjustable.

I took the stock off my M70...several times actually...adjusted the trigger as light as it would go, gave it a touch of overtravel (my preference)...have not rebedded the action...shot this group last week.

By the way...not sure how I missed this thread when it was new...if I had seen it I would have replied sooner, not that my reply matters much...but I do have an M70 that I've tinkered with a bit (2 of them actually)
