Was in the local Dicks Sporting Goods today and noted a complete Troy Defense AR-15 on the shelf for $1099. It was loaded with all their accessories - Alpha battle rail, BattleAx stock, front and rear BUIS, etc. The gun is a midlength carbine with a 16-in barrel. Apparently Troy is building them exclusively for Dicks...interesting choice, but more power to 'em if they're serious about retailing this sort of gun!

Scuttlebutt from some other forums has it that these are very nice guns. Apparently they use the correct materials, cut the feed ramps properly, stake the bolt gas key, have high-quality barrels, HP/MPI test the bolts and barrels, etc etc.

Anyone buy or use one of these yet? I've been going back and forth on picking up another AR. $1099 seems like a screaming deal for this, particularly given that its loaded with high-quality accessories.

Here is the gun:

The Troy looks good but may cut a few corners. Anyway, I was very surprised to see an AR-15 style bolt carrier instead of the M16 style you'd expect in a duty rifle.
