Affordable alternative to Tubb2000?

I was appalled to find that a Tubb 2000 is now considered to be a $5000 rifle. So that is off the list.

Some time ago, I saw online someone who was building a similar across the course type match rifle, but it was significantly less expensive. I seem to recall that the materials, fit an finish were not as good, but the builder said that it was exceptionally accurate.

Any body know who that might have been? Alternatively, is there a similar rifle for tactical matches that I might consider? I need to fire accurately out to 1000yds, and would prefer to use something with a better BC than .223 :-)

Thanks!

MAK is another tube gun option. www.tubegun.net
The Eliseo is a better system though.

What did you have in mind to spend? Something you might want to consider is starting with for example a basic type AR 10 that you can build on. You need a base start price and the caliber.

How bout a GAP-10?

Still pretty pricey but not 5 grand! You can even get it in .260 Remington. That will definitely beat a .223 BC:)

I believe they guarantee 3/4 MOA as well.

i have some friends that use the eliseo chassis. they love it. if you want to spend a few bucks, defiance makes an action with an integral round lug designed for the eliseo chassis. very very cool. figure around $1000 for stock, $1000 for action, $1000 for barrel, gunsmithing and trigger. prob a bit over $3000 at a minimum.

or, you could throw a used rem700 action in that chassis and knock $600 off that price

i am building a rifle on an XLR chassis. i just got all the parts in last night. am taking pictures of the build and will post them in a few weeks.
