What's the average going price for this particular shotgun?

Just yesterday I saw (drooled over) a brand new example of exactly this gun - an 870 Marine Magnum - in a sports store here. The price tag on it was $1695. :what:
This, of course, bears absolutely no relationship to the price in US$ or any other portion of the real world ..... because I'm in a country that imports all firearms and has a weak-a$$ currency (although just recently it rose to and has stayed at US$0.68).
I really only posted that price to engender some sympathy ...... darn how I wanted to buy that shiny new Marine Magnum. Somehow, as good as I know it would be, I don't think it'd be worth the grief I'd get from the wife (or the bank manager). :uhoh:

Davidson's list price is shown as $573 - LINK (http://www.galleryofguns.com/gunlocator/gunsearch/Product.asp?Manuf=&item_num=5012&index=3&max=20&start=20&instock=None&manufact_combo=Remington&mod_ser_combo=870&category_combo=None&model=None&g_type=None&act_type=None&finish_type=None&calib_combo=None&sight_class_combo=None&price_range=None&qPromoID=&EZ=&left_handed=&youth=&item_only=0&oldsql=WHERE+%28unk2+like+%27%251%27+or+unk2+like+%27%252%27%29++AND+manuf+like+%27%25Remington%25%27++AND++%28Inventory%2Emodel%5Fseries+%3D+%27870%27+OR+Inventory%2Emodel%5Fseries+like+%27870%7C%25%27+OR+Inventory%2Emodel%5Fseries+like+%27%25%7C870%27%29+ORDER+BY+manuf%2C+unk2%2C+unk3)
That means that in Texas or Arizona you can buy it for a $1.83

If Davidsons has them for $573, your dealer should be getting them around $460, so say $500+tax OTD

I hate California. $550 + taxes + California BS fees + store fees + this fee + that fee = Marine Magnum

$469-$89 central Ohio (Buckeye Outdoors) unless have had a recent price increase. I just (2 months ago) bought an HD Express for $289(tax included) - I just couldn't justify the extra $200 bucks for the MM at the time although I wish I had the decision to make again.

"$469-$89 central Ohio (Buckeye Outdoors)" Cheaper than Gander Mountain. I’ll have to give them a call, I really want one of those.

OK, I just want to make it official ..... I hate you guys!! ;)
I know you guys live in the country that makes these things and I have to expect currency and shipping charges, but I still don't understand how you guys can buy an 870 Marine Magnum for around $500 when I have to pay $1700. :banghead:
At a cost of US$500 the price in NZ$ should be around $740. Add a hundred or so for shipping and maybe some duty, makes it around $850. OK, I could live with that, but where does the extra $850 come in??? A 100% markup??? :cuss:
Please people, appreciate how good you guys have got it.
I think I might investigate what I have to do to privately import a firearm .... I'm sure it'd be cheaper.

A friend of mine bought one, then realized that he had no clue as to why he bought it other than he liked the way it looked. He never fired it; being the good friend that I am I eased him out of his embarrassing position for $350.

Not trying to rub it in, but my daughter picked the
Remington 12 gague 870 Marine Magnum as one
of her Christmas present's in the year 2000. So
we went to our local dealer to acquire one; and
was shocked at the OTD price, $379.88. Needless
to say, we wrapped that one up and took it home!
Best Wishes,

I saw one on the shelf for $795 yesterday. :scrutiny: I had gone to the store specifically to buy one of these. Must have been some kind of mix up with the price tags. Needless to say I only came home with a new hat. Will shop around a bit more. Same gun with a blued finish was half that.

I picked up my Marine Magnum for $350 at a gun show last year. The dealer said he had shot it 12 times, but looked to be brand new. The cheapest price I have seen on the internet is $434.62 at budsgunshop.com

Yes. I didn't care for the grip offered by the stock one, too small, too slippery. I think I got the new one from Brownells.

I thought so - it looked smaller and you were able to mount a 6 shot sidesaddle on the receiver...

They're right around $500 in Delaware. I handled one today at Millers. Nice. But I can get a 870 Home Defense for $200 less and the only difference I could see was the finish. I'm having a hard time justifying that $200 right now.
