I'm looking at a Barsony IWB holster for use with a Ruger SR9c. This is an inexpensive nylon clip holster. I already have a few of that type, but this one looks to comes up higher so that there is less contact between gun and skin (if not wearing an undershirt).

I know that "you get what you pay for", but I live in the People's Republic of Maryland, so I don't carry very often. This one looks decent. Any users out there?

I'm somewhat of a student of holsters, and holster makers, but I will admit I've only heard them mentioned here on THR. I can't recall them mentioned on any of the other forums I frequent. Folks pop in every now an then and ask a question about them as you have. There are some comments here on the forum, if you care to do a search.

I'm curious as well. I've seen a few negative comments, but most of those are generic "they're cheap crap" without giving specifics. What exactly makes it crap? I'm specifically looking for a pancake style holster with a thumb break for a Glock 26. I don't mind if it's not a perfectly tight fit as long as it doesn't come apart or break and the thumb break holds it in.

Is the thumb break going to break off or tear? Is the stitching going to come undone and the holster fall apart? Is the gun going to slide around too much?

I bought a leather pancake for my little S&W 2214. Aside from some sloppy stitching, it's a pretty nice little holster. But I will admit that my expectations were low, and thus it would have to be pretty bad for me to have been let down. Quite happy....for the price.

How long have you had it? And do you use it as a carry holster, or just for the range.

I've got no first hand experience with either a Glock or a Barsoney holster. However, using my "internet knowledge", and some common sense, a thumb break holster from this company sounds like something I would avoid.

The biggest safety problem reported with Glocks is the odd thing getting inside the trigger guard while reholstering your Glock and causing the gun to fire. One of the more recent "internet Glock incidents" is the guy with the old soft leather holster that shot himself in the leg while sitting in his car as the top of his holster got inside the trigger guard and pulled the trigger. Extremely unlikely, but only really possible with a soft leather holster.

In general, the real difference between a bad holster and a quality holster is usually the quality of the leather and the molding.

If anything on a holster was going to get caught inside the trigger guard it would most likely be a thumb break or a soft piece of the holster body. Your pancake Barsonay seems to have both covered.

Kydex always seems like a better option for Glocks. They are lightweight, like your Glock, they are weather resistant, like your Glock, they are very durable, like your Glock, and they will hold your pistol very securely and don't have any stray straps or levers (If you don't get a SERPA) that can get caught inside your trigger guard.

I have 3-4 of them (can't quite remember) and they are very well made for the money. No complaints.

I've had it for about 6 months. I'm in IL, no carry, but I have packed it around the farm a bit. Never been to a range. It was really stiff and poorly molded when I got it. I gave it a few trips through the oven with some Hot Glove. Then oiled it, holsted the pistol, and used a Food Saver to vacuum seal it for a few days. The vacuum bag forms the leather to the gun very tightly. It didn't stay perfect, but alot better than it was.

The only place I've really seen Barsony holsters for sale is on eBay. Look fairly inexpensive, and light duty, say to clip on for occasional carry, not everyday carry.

I have a leather Barsony holster for my lc9 and love it. For an inexpensive holster it's pretty nice

I should have snapped the back too. There are a couple cockeyed stitches, and a spot that they cut awfully close to the edge. But other than that it looks and feels pretty nice.
