Kahr CM/PM9 pocket carry... as convenient as it seems?

Well, I'm getting a CM9 in a few days, and I'm wanting to get experiences on carrying the CM or PM9 in a pocket. To me, it seems very doable. I've put one in my pocket without the holster, and it seemed good, but I'd like to hear from those who've actually carried it all day. Is it comfortable? Does it move around much with a decent holster, and is it noticeable?

Input is appreciated!

My PM40 is one of my favorite pocket guns. It even carries well in jeans.

Not a bother to me. Of course it's not like having a .32 or .380 "mouse gun" in your pocket, but not a problem either. Of course, YMMV.

Been carrying a PM40 for a few years in a DeSantis Nemasus pocket holster. Works fine in all my pants. I sometimes carry a Sig P238 if my pants are a little tight. But the PM40 is a regular carry.

I just never warmed up to pocket carry unless I was drawing with my hand on the gun. If I'm going to carry, I want to be prepared to draw quickly from concealment. I just can't do that.

I like to carry it (The CM9 or a g26) in a very thin, small IWB holster in appendix carry (super comfy if you don't have a gut) or somewhere between 3:30 and 4:30. I just draw faster and easier like that.

I've become a big fan of minimalist trigger guard holster in the appendix position. I can draw easily and quickly when seated, standing, seated in a car with a seat belt or even lying down. It just takes awhile to get accustomed to having...er, the muzzle pointed "downrange." But as long as it is a safe, secure holster and the trigger is enclosed...you're good to go.

Carry your wallet in your front pocket for a few days. Then carry the CM9 there in a DeSantis Nemesis (or similar) holster.

Not a whole lot of difference.

The CM9 is probably the most pocketable of all the more-common 9mm pistols out there.

fishbed77 Your spot on about the wallet. While just walking around I don't pay any attention to cc'n Only when sitting I notice for a moment and then its forgot again. But I cc'd a 21oz 5 shot revolver for 20 years so pistols in the 13 to 15oz range for the last few years is just fine.

Fishbed's spot on. Great gun, great pocket 9.

I have a PM-9. Tried pocket carry - it wasn't for me. Too bulky & too slow to draw from my pocket. When I carry it I carry it in a Milt Sparks Executive's Companion IWB holster.

After much research I got a Seecamp .32 for pocket carry. I carry it all the time in a Ryan Grizzle pocket holster and a spare magazine in a pocket carrier from Grizzle.

Good luck.

I appreciate the responses, guys. I'll try the wallet thing tomorrow, and see if I can get used to it.

Also plouffedaddy, you seem to always deliver when it comes to pics.

Its not so much the the size, but the weight fully loaded that makes your pocket look funky when you move.

I almost always carry my PF9 in my pocket these days. i switch to an Alabama holster and like it a lot better than the Nemesis I used to carry. Oddly enough it doesn't print "gun" as much as a well used DeSantis does.

Ha, I am going with the Alabama holster. Ordered one today, so by the time my CCW comes in, I might have the holster.

I've got a PM9 on the way along with a Desantis super fly pocket holster, which I've heard is quite good. I will let you know. I am most interested in IWB myself, the draw is just quicker. I'm thinking about getting the Crossbreed Minituck. What kind of IWB holsters are you guys using out there? Pictures?

PM9 pocket carry not for Me ( I do own a super fly pocket holster for it tho ) as it's to big for My bluejean's pockets . EDC in a C-Tac holster works just fine for Me........WVleo

I do my best! We all like reading about guns (we're in a gun forum after all...) but most of us love looking at them too!

I have a CM9

Like others.... Went through the pocket carry approach

Practiced the Tueller drill...... Found the CM9 fits the pocket, but doesnt draw fast enough for me.

If I absolutely wanted to pocket carry, i woukd buy an LCR.......

For me...... IWB is by far the best choice

Another vote for IWB holster carry. If I'm going to pocket carry I prefer one of my .380's.

I carried a Glock-36 for several years but found that I could not conceal it reliably at all times. I finally opted for the Kahr PM-9 in a pocket holster which is my constant companion. After a short period of time I do not notice it's pressence in my pocket.

I've been carrying a PM40 in an Uncle Mikes pocket holster for a couple of years now. Before that, for a long time, it was a PM9. As long as your pants aren't tight fitting they hide very well.

Pocket carry mine using the same holster as plouffedaddy. Not a problem.

I just bought a CM9 SPECIFICALLY for pocket carry as I wear cargo shorts 11 months a year. It is 3 oz heavier than my 642, but I can shoot it better and I like the grip better

I pocket carry mine without any difficulty but do agree it is not the fastest draw.

I pocket carry 99.9% of the time. The Pm9 is one of my favorites because of size and weight. I carry using a DeSantis Nemisis holster. The weight of the gun is more important than the size IMO. If you really want a light weight gun you want know you are carrying the Kahr P380 is ideal. The gun is so small and light weight you actually can forget you are carrying. The other small 9mm I own: Nano, Solo, PPS, XDsc, PX4sc, G26.

If you want the smallest and best 9mm, you go Rohrbaugh - that is out of most folks price range and ther Kahr is a decent alternative from a price/size/weight/accuracy standpoint

I had a pm9 for two and a half years. It pocket carries fine. Now, for over three months, I pocket carry an M&P Shield daily (sold the kahr). You'll have no issues pocket carrying the kahr

I did not have any issues with the size but found the 17 ounce weight unacceptable.

I switched to a M&P 340 JFrame revolver .38 spl plus P albeit 5 rounds....it weighs 14 ounces loaded.

But mostly a Seecamp .380 at around 13 ounces.

I do bag carry the PM 9 and shoot it much better with a Crimson Trace laser and a Pearce extension.

Pocket carry deos not work for me. Swings around and shifts to a bad spot. Prints too easy with most pocket holsters.

I've found that a pocket gun in a IWB holster is very nice. I prefer Crossbreed IWB.

Shoot, pocket guns are so small that I don't even need to IWb them. I make my own Ravens style Kydex OWB holsters.

I pocket carried my cm9 for a while. It rides nice - but not a quick draw. Just something to think about. It's hard to get into your pocket when you're in a tussle. When real trouble comes you won't likely have much warning or time to think about safeties.

I pocket carry either my PM9 or LCR. Both carry well and it all comes down to what I feel like carrying that Day.

Draw speed is not a problem with either.

I pocket carry a CM9 during the warm months while wearing cargo shorts. It has replaced my 442 as my pocket gun. Although the CM9 weighs a few more ounces the three dot night sights are a huge improvement over the sights on my 442.

I voted "not even there" but I've been carrying for about 20 yrs and I was still vacillating between that and the next choice. Probably the better answer is noticeable but not in the way. Besides, I rarely pocket-carry.

I'll admit that I expected it to be as easy to carry as an LCP, but I find that I am disappointed in how much it looks like you have a big book in your pocket. It doesn't matter what holster either, nemisis, kydex flat wallet style, uncle mikes #3 (I think) pocket holster. I don't wear tight pants, just normal jeans.
I put it on my waist in a kydex by pjholster and it vanishes. Too bad it doesn't always work, but that's another thread.

Pocket carry rarely. If the PM9 is carried as primary I use a DaSantis Speed Scabbard. If carried as BUG I carry it in a Cell Pal.

If I was a righty I'd probably have one in my pocket right now. Ploufs set up, with the decals on the grips, are the way to go. The Kahr grips are really thin and the stick on grips make them just right. I had them on my CW and the combo of traction and the little bit of swell made the gun that much more shootable.

I wear Tactical 5-11 shirts year round. They have an envelope behind each shirt pocket. I can carry pretty big handguns without printing. The PM9 is light enough it doesn't make the shirt sag.

So basically it gives it the K9 size grip? I find the K9 to be more comfortable in hand than the polymer Kahrs.
