Curious if anyone has any ideas for removing pen ink from inside the flap of a vintage P08 (Luger) holster. I inherited this along with a DWM Luger when my Uncle passed away 2 years ago. Inside the flap is a gentleman's name (not my uncle's), city and state. It's written in what appears to be just standard blue pen ink. I havent tried anything yet out of fear of doing more damage than good. If anyone needs pictures I can post them up.

Without seeing it, I might try a white ink eraser.

The inside shell is the rough side of the leather, so whatever you can get off with an abrasive ink eraser is at least a start.

After that?

Try rubbing alcohol and a rag to lightly scrub and "blot" up anything else remaining.
Just keep changing to a clean section of the rag as you go so you don't make a big blue stain.

You could also try a mild liquid dish detergent and water on a rag.

Having trouble tracking down an ink eraser. (back to school supplies are picked over.) The wife is in Des Moines today and is hopefully picking one up. I'll post some before and after pictures. Thanks again RC!

Good job on that restoration!
I read the post a little late but I recall using saddle soap in boot camp to remove the black dye from our boots and condition the leather before building them back up with kiwi polish.
You must have been as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs when you put that ink eraser on bare leather..
