I live in a part of Alabama that is what is commonly referred to as being out in the sticks. Rarely do you hear of any shooting; mostly meth heads trying to cook their own stuff.

In the local news paper was an article that got my attention. Around 3:00 in the morning a young mother heard someone breaking into their home, the kid that broke the door in started up the stairs, when she responded with one shot. Police found him bleeding in front yard, and stated that visible signs of forced entry, blood trail from house to where he was laying spoke for itself. Glad to see the good ole girl from the sticks knows how to handle herself. Way to go, someone should get this on gunssavelives.net

I notice the article said her home was next to a high school, if it was too close that 'school-gun free zone' could have cost her and her children their lives.

Ryanxa one nice thing about being out in the sticks, some "Laws-Rules" don't always have same weight as a bigger city. I was involved in a shooting back in the 60's the only thing the police officer said to me was "I thought you were taught to shoot better than that". Never heard another word about it.

The gun-free school zone does not apply to private property that is not part of school grounds within the zone.

See paragraphs (2)(b)(i) and (3)(b)(i).

Always want to know the home owner/resident comes out on top in an incident like that. She did good.

Wonder who her teacher was?

For the last week I have spent a lot of time at hospital with my wife. Got her home yesterday so I will find out all I can about who's, what's and how's.
