Not sure if this is the right place to ask for recomendations or if another section is a better fit but here goes.
pretty simple and straightforward really.
Fitting a match grade barrel and bushing to a 1911 is not among the tasks that I feel comfortable trying to attempt for myself at this point in time.
Therefore I am looking for recomendations of qualified smiths in the Houston area to do this work.
that's pretty much it. thank you in advace for any info, leads, or information you care to share.

Hi Detritus:
One of the great smiths in the country, Teddy Jacobson, is located near you in Sugar Land, TX. His website is www.actionsbyt.com.
Hope this helps.

thank you for the recomendation, and I am sincere on that.
Unfortunately Mr Jacobson is one of two gun-realted businesses in the Houston area (the other being AJC Sports in Clute and now Katy) that for differing reasons, are on my personal "never to be contacted again" list.
I have no doubt that his work is excellent, nor do i bear him any ill will. I just won't be using him for my personal smithing needs.
so anyway, back to the top to see if anyone else gets a recomendation.

Agree with LeonCarr and I had recommended Ed on your post on the other forum.

I know Lubbock isn't backyard close but Jeremy Reid is turning out some amazing work. He's gotten a website up recently: http://www.reidpistolsmithing.com/ and is taking work between custom builds. He has posted some work here (actually his brother posted it) and at other 1911 specific sites.
