Picked this one up for a song (relatively speaking) -
George Lawrence 27FCSW size 549, I had no idea if it would fit my M66 but, it looked close & I had high hopes.
I got lucky.

You did indeed! That kind of quality costs big-bucks these days, and size #549 fits the Smith & Wesson .357 Combat Magnum (pre-model 19) that is identical in size to your model 66.
The lining, carving and laced edge are all extra-cost custom options.

Looks nice! I tried my hands once at hobby leatherworking. (Still have most of "Betsy" under the couch - when I ordered my first cow hide, I named it, and the name stuck.)
Turns out that quality leatherworking is not a universal "Lawrence" trait, but I'm glad to see someone got it right. :)

It's not hard to make good holsters (been there, done that) but quality carving is another matter, and takes a lot of practice.

Oh I could *DO* a holster, no doubt.
But it'd come out looking NOTHING like that. In fact, it might not resemble a holster at all. :)

You're giving up too easy. Use the forum's Search Feature and you'll find a number of members who make their own. They look pretty good and in the process they saved money over commercial products. A few actually went on to open a small business and make holsters professionally. Sometimes first attempts don't look so good, although they are fully functional. But as time goes by if they keep at it they look better and better.
