I would like to get a shotgun for 2 purpose's for home defence and for hunting i own many pump shotguns but want one semi auto. I was considering the 1187 and then getting a extra barrel for hunting. I Want something i can use for both and would like to be able to carry 7 rounds and also 3 inch mag's as well and very reliable with out being extremly expensive any comments "???

I've got a Benelli that started out as an M1S90 Field with a 26" barrel that was occasionally used for hunting. I added a 4 round extension and an 18.5" barrel. That's it's normal configuration these days. I also have a pistol grip stock for it but don't care for that too much.
The Benelli is very modular. You can change out parts to configure it just about any way you want it, and making the changes is easy. It's rock solid reliable as well. I don't know what you consider extremely expensive. The Benelli is not cheap, but it's worth the price in my opinion.

I'll throw in another vote for the Benelli M1S90.
I purchased one of their "tactical" models which included rifle sights (not ghost rings). The top of the receiver does not have the LPA ghost ring rear sight base to get in the way when exchanging barrels. My intention was that I could make it two guns in one by purchasing a 26" barrel as funds were more readily available. That hasn't happened, and will more than likely never happen as I would much rather purchase another m1s90 (I love mine THAT much) to fit the bill.
Like harrydog said, the Benellis are fairly modular. No gas ports to fuss with when changing out barrels. Lack of gas ports are, however, a bone of contention for some as it makes the gun A LOT more dependent on shotshell load (this is debatable).
The performance of my m1s90 has been great and am VERY VERY pleased. I will be purchasing another Benelli before my girlfriend finds out about my plans.
