a co-worker wants a new pistol.
he has narrowed it down to a Springfield Mil-Spec or a CZ 75.
both are with in a few $$ of each other, he already has a Kimber
.45 acp and a Glock 26 9mm. so the ? is wich "new" one to buy first?
i know every one has favorites but he will definatly buy one of these
two this weekend......so wich one?

I have no experience with CZs, but obviously they have lots of fans. I do own a Springfield Mil-Spec and I like it alot. The only complaints I have is the plastic grips are junk that crack easily, and the sights don't impress me. Fortunately I had a moment of clairvoyance and odered some nice rosewood grips a few days before my plastic ones cracked.

Well, I have both. As he already has a 1911, and a glock, I would say get the CZ. It is a different action type for him to play with. There is no way he can go wrong either way, but I figured the CZ is something he doesnt yet have, while the Mil-Spec, which I love, will be a "second" to the Kimber.

Just my opinion

I would go with the CZ as well. Like said above, he already has a 1911. Besides, the CZ will be cheaper in the long run since there is not quite some many aftermarket addons.:D Of course there are some just not as many. The CZ also has no need for a gunsmith to make it reliable as it is reliable out of the box unlike most 1911.:D (I say this as I am putting on my flame retardant clothing)http://mysmilies.ipbfree.com/s/contrib/ruinkai/peepwallA.gif

CZ75 for sure.

Agreed that the sights and grips aren't spectacular, but the firearm is incredibly reliable and very accurate in my hands. I own a few 1911's and only the Kimber Gold Match gets more range time than the CZ. Hicaps are also available.

I purchased a new SA Milspec 38 Super a couple of years ago that had a malfunctioning safety out of the box. Safety ON, squeeze butt safety, pull trigger, hammer fell. Not good(tm). Returned it the next day used the store credit on a FN BHP Mark III.

CZ-75 for sure. I have a CZ-75BD that has been totally reliable and very accurate from the first shot.
I had a mil spec that was reliable, had a terrible trigger, and the sights were off by about 18" in elevation and about 12" to the left. After alot of messing with it I just sold the damn thing.
I don't see why I should pay more for a gun that wasn't made as well.

The CZ platform is a different animal from the Glock and 1911 platform. After owning countless 1911s and a few Glocks, I broke down and bought
a 10mm EAA. (CZ clone) I have to say that the EAA is certainly an interesting piece. I swear, it almost feels better in my hand than my 1911s!! Haven't shot it much as the recoil spring was WAY too light. Got my Wolff springs in today, so I going to shoot it a lot! If you already have Glocks, Sigs, & 1911s, by all means get a CZ or a clone thereof. You might just be surprised!

If he gets the CZ suggest that he save some money for a Kadet kit. Makes the 75 twice as much fun!!

GET THE MIL SPEC ! :scrutiny:  OK....Im Busted...get the CZ.

All of the reasons given above are all valid. Ill never talk down a 1911 platform..but if hes got a Kimber.......then the next gun is a given.

Shoot well.
