New kimber10 target owner

I just picked up my first kimber 10, I haven't shot it yet but by the looks of the stock sights I'm not sure how long they'll stay on. I dont care for the black on black and the front sight seems a bit oversized. I looked at the $100 Mepro sight which look real nice or would the White Dot front be enough OOORRRRR have most of you guys left them stock.
BULLETS:
I plan to carry this badboy for deer every year and plan to shoot the 200gr xtp for deer but am open to any suggestions you guys may have for the most accurate plinkers and jhp.

Not much help, but sights are personal. I prefer solid black sights over any dot or bar pattern. Night sights I have no use for.
As to bullets, well each barrel is an individual. You will have to experiment with loads to find what actually shoots accurately in your pistol. If your deer are not overly large then a properly constructed 180 grainer should do a fine job also.

Take a look at DoubleTap Ammunition. 200gr. XTP @1250fps from a 4.6"bbl will work wonders on a deer. If the deer are smaller, try the 180gr. GSHP @ 1330fps.

I have the 9mm Target Stainless, also debating sight replacement for some kind of 3-dot setup which is my preferred sight picture. Already replaced the rubber grips with some woods ones with more "bite".
Assuming you shot it by now, have you had any extraction issues? Mine sends every other spent case into my face and another guy I met at the range with the 9mm couldn't get it to extract reliably at all. I'm wondering if Kimber's relative inexperience with the other calibers is at work here?
Sending mine back for extractor tuning this week.

Hard to beat a fast XTP load like the DT for hunting. Or the 220gr hardcast flat point for tougher critters. The Kimber sights are a knock-off of the Bo-Mar design, they are OK but nothing to write home about.

I've got a Kimber STII in 10mm, and I've got the same issue. ZERO failures to extract, and only two failures to feed (last round on two CMC 9 rounders and only happened the very first time I used them), but yeah, the brass tends to fly much more in the vertical plane than I'd like. From what I understand they don't really pay too much attention to the extractors at the factory, but it's something that can be relatively easily fixed...

Interesting. In that case I may throw some work to my local gunsmith instead. The combined horror stories I've heard about dealing with people at Kimber's custom shop makes me weary. Thanks for the info.
