Nashville, TN: In celebration of it's 11th anniversary as America's favorite gun show, RTM Productions, the production company that owns the American Shooter series, announced today it will significantly expand the scope of the industry's original and longest running firearm series.

"American Shooter has been television's most watched gun show for over a decade. Now, it's time we take the show to the next level." said series creator and RTM President Joe St. Lawrence. He added, "Since shooting sports coverage is so important to our viewers and to the shooting community, we're responding to their requests by turning to professional shooting sports champions to host the show."

RTM will begin airing these new "American Shooter" episodes in June, 2003 on Comcast's Outdoor Life Network. OLN will schedule multiple weekend mid-morning and evening primetime time slots to air the show.

Executive Producer Patty St. Lawrence added, "We are very pleased to be continuing our relationship with OLN as our distribution partner for the future of the show. OLN is the premier destination for millions of outdoorsmen and firearms enthusiasts.”

Elements of the new episodes will be videotaped at RTM's new 1200 acre shooting complex and outdoor television production facility in the Nashville area.

American Shooter will continue to feature it's popular "Gun Tech™," "Shot of the Week™," and "Great Guns™," segments. RTM will make additional program announcements during the upcoming SHOT Show in Orlando, Florida, February 13 – 16, 2003.

RTM Productions, Inc. is a full service television production and marketing company, specializing in enthusiast television programming. In addition to American Shooter, the company currently produces Car and Driver Television, HorsepowerTV, and Trucks!

Welcome Jim. At least, I'm pretty sure that's you. Or is it "your people?"

Anyway, that's great news. Re show the Cooper inteview will you?

January 31, 2003, 02:21 PM
That's fine, I guess, but OLN needs to get on more cable systems!

January 31, 2003, 02:31 PM
Sounds like Jim will no longer be the host.:( I hope he will still be involved, how bout it Jim?

January 31, 2003, 02:36 PM
No I believe that JIm is still with the show. Patty St. Lawrence and her husband are the show's producers. Chris St. Lawrence, brother in law of Patty, is the town supervisor of Ramapo here in Rockland. Small world ain't it?

My question is why doesn't the local cable here carry it?

love the show.

I noticed that C&D TV got a new host as well..

Needless to say, I'm not thrilled. :fire:

January 31, 2003, 03:55 PM
we're responding to their requests by turning to professional shooting sports champions to host the show.Ugh. That sounds like really bad news to me. Sounds as though Jim Scoutten is out. Jim, if you're out there and you're not out, let us know.

May have to buy a TV set again!:)

Dear High Level Executives that are Very, Very Smart:
It won't be as good a show without Jim. Nope. Won't be. That's what I said. Looking forward to saying "told ya so". That's right. Gonna tell ya so.

AS would not be AS without Jim Scoutten.:uhoh:

Nope, "American Shooter" the member is not Jim Scoutten, he is a member here under his own name. Likewise, I'm not sure American Shooter the program will be the same without Jim Scoutten if that is what I'm reading between the lines of the initial post. :(

Car and Driver just ain't the same without Jim. Jim is a great host, and if he's leaving on his own for personal reasons, I can understand that, otherwise the producers are making a BIG mistake.

I will be hosting a new show on OLN that will begin in July of '03 titled: Benelli's American Safari. This is a hunting show and there will be 13 episodes shown through December of 2003. The producers of the show have produced very high quality outdoor shows in the past including the original Ducks Unlimited show on TNN and a number of others. It is a pleasure to be working with these guys on this new show.

I will be producing (means "writing") and hosting a gun show on OLN that will start in June of this year. This new show will make you feel right at home while watching, but it will have an unfamiliar name. There will be 18 of these shows in the first year, five more than ever produced before in a single season. I can tell you, without question, this is a done deal. OLN, not to be confused with the smaller Outdoor Network, is very pleased that they will have a new resource to continue a 10 year tradition of high quality television gun reporting.

This thread began with a press release posted by my former employer company that owns the name "American Shooter". Whether you place much stock in press releases is up to you. But if the information in that release turns out to be an accurate prediction of the future; then we should all be pleased that there will be two Television shows for shooters this season.

I'll tell you the details when we're all set. And that's when we'll update my website to reflect the news, that isn't quite ready for full disclosure right now.

Thanks for the update, Jim !:)

A.S. & C&D TV will not be the same without you.:(

I,for one, look forward to seeing you back on the tube.
Keep up the good work.

Whether you place much stock in press releases is up to you.It would be more credible if it didn't have grammatical mistakes in it. ;)

Mr. Scoutten
Glad to hear that you have new shows coming out. I am looking forward to seeing them. Best of luck.

I was just watching American Rifleman (NRA's new TV show) last week and thinking the whole time how much better American Shooter with Jim Scoutten was. Nothing against Garry James, but after listening to him drone on in his high-pitched monotone for a half hour, I was ready for the show to be over. I kept thinking that there's just no substitute for a professional host...

And now we find that American Shooter is losing its professional host.

Hey Jim, be sure and keep us posted on your new show.

February 1, 2003, 01:19 AM
Whoa I really missed that one.:uhoh:

February 1, 2003, 01:28 AM
I hope they are not gonna keep it on opposite STARGATE!!!!:cuss:

Got hooked on American Shooter back when it was on TNN (and TNN was The Nashville Network!) . Just won't be the same without Jim Scoutten hosting it.

Still, looking forward to his new shows and hoping American Shooter maintains the same excellence as in the past and doesn't turn into a 30 minute infomercial.

Jim: I'm glad you landed on your feet and look forward to your new show.

AmericanShooter: best of luck, but you lost a great host.
