I will be purchasing a Savage Varmint rifle soon, what do I have to look forward to as far as performance?

In general you can look forward to a resonably priced tack driver. Give us a report.

I have a 700VS...but if I was in the market for another Varmint gun...it would probably be the Savage with that new accu-trigger.

Heck a friend of mine bought a new savage 22-250 varmint gun 3 years ago...old trigger design....and it is a tack driver!

Overall... best accuracy out of the box of pretty much any production riflemaker...

there is one factor though, but it depends on which model of varmint gun you get...

if you get a 12BVSS with the laminated stock you're set, though it's a bit heavy for some uses.
same holds true for the 12VSS and VSS-S that have a factory installed Choate stock.

if on the otherhand you get an example with the Standard savage factory stock. you will eventually want to replace the stock.

there are at least two other threads floating around that discuss the savage replacement stock issue..

hope that is of use to you
