It's a Marble's Ideal Hunting Knife. Don't know current value.

I don't know either.

But you better get some 0000 grade steel wool & oil after the blade before the rust gets any worse.

BTW:
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you have to pay for it??

I have a Marbles Fieldcraft made in 1916, and it is the meat cuttingest hunting knife in my extensive knife collection. It just doesn't get dull in normal use.

Some say old steel gets better as it ages?

I doubt that, but those old guys back then certainly knew how to make a great knife using the steel they had available to work with then.

eastbank,

That knife with the sheath in that condition is worth 10 times what you paid for it. If you're just looking for something for a shadow box display you might want to get one of the new ones and age it a bit and put the vintage Marbles up for auction on one of the knife forums and pocket the difference.

I agree.....do something with that rust. 0000 steel wool and some oil or kroil and a little patience.

From what i can see of the rifle....I think the knife fits with what he's going for. The gun don't look like a used up wall hanger to me. neither is the knife...........and ain't neither one tore up or cheap:)

Should make a excellent display!!

Keep the old Marbles and the model 53 they will only increase in value!
