Just a small item of possible interest .... I was having a rummage .. into the deep and dark recesses under my loading bench .. and in one box of assorted detritis was this .. a Webley & Scott .410 insert for 12G. All but forgot I had it!

I bought this about 30 years ago ... and it usually resided in an old O/U shottie ... which was consigned to HD duty ... the insert I kept in the bottom barrel ... loaded with a 3" #4 shell .. the top barrel had a std 12G shell in it with 000 or similar.

The thinking was that ... at close range the first shot of .410 might be quite ''adequate'' .. with no need for the ''2nd option'' .. thus keeping blast and noise down, as well as maybe any collateral damage :p

I present the pics purely in case they prove of interest ... not sure how many have seen this sorta deal ... and whether in fact it is easily available even now .. daresay it might be but I ain't come across one.

Yes they actually work!

Do NOT ever get rid of that...not ever my friend.

Now remembering that old insert,...well a cold rainy day, a shop with lathe and all, a 20 ga single shot shotgun that kicks like a mule, Aluminum tempered stock...an insert was made, the insert works, very effective on small pests.

Ours doesn't have the "Webley and Scott" - "Made in England" markings...does have very very similar design...scary similar.

Yes they do work and quite well .. I am actually delighted to have found this ... it has not a trace of rust despite not having been stored too carefully all these years. Ihave quite a few .410 shells knocking around . I think I shall fire off some ''celebratory'' rounds thru it!:p

Ya know whatcha need...?... You have the skills, a shop, and hey I won't tell if your are playing and not working. Make inserts for the Bakail....next time it snows..."just clearing a path to shop" my bride. :D
