CZ P-01 or Sig 239

Which would you choose for a carry gun and why? Disregard the caliber, both can be effective. I'm looking more for a factors of quality, night sight options, accuracy, concealment, weight, feel and, the least needing to be done to it right out of the box.
TIA :)

Well both are very good guns.....period. The caliber withstanding they are different guns also.
The PO1 is almost as small, holds 15 rnds, has the rail for your bells and whistles and is just about the most comfortable gun to shoot Ive ever found.
The 239 will run forever and beg for more. It just doesnt feel like a Sig in my hands. IMO its a great gun, but the grip and capacity given its size are the killers here. Id rather compare the 229 to the PO1.
Even in that comparison Id take the CZ.
The size of guns your talking about are easy to conceal and shoot.....very balanced in its size. Nights are more available for the Sig......thats the only advantage over the CZ. PT's are the most common on the Czech guns and they still are NOT the best Ive used.
Either way you cant go wrong....but if you want a 239 IMO, Id look at a Kahr.....they are just as nice, the same price, same capacity, are smaller and feel better in my hands.
But Id still recommend a PO1/PCR..................:D

Oh oh oh. I'd go with the P-01. I have no experience at all with sigs but you can't go wrong with the P-01.

Marshall-
I got a CZ P-01 yesterday 2.27.04. I love the ergonomics of this gun, it fits my hand like a glove and points naturally. And she is solid compare to my G19, which is looking very plain at the moment.
I shot it at ten yards and couldn't believe how accurate it is. I still can't group as good with the Glock as I did the first time with the CZ. I only had enough time to shoot three mags through it before I had to leave. I also shot a few mags through my Glock, but couldn't group as well. It was a short session. Next week I'll really test them side by side to see. Should be fun.
Regards,
Luis Leon
P.S. The G19 will remain on my hip until the P-01 earns the spot.

I had both...in 9mm. Accuracy wise the CZ won hands down. No crap. The CZ trigger had more creep but was a lot more predictable and lighter. The Sig was the smoother trigger, but heavier. The ergonomics of the 239 are just flat horrible unless you have hogue grips or small hands. Thought the CZ is a compact, it palms like a full size fighter. Go with the CZ.:)

I have a CZ75B and Sig 239.
I carry the CZ if I'm doing an under the left arm pit shoulder rig and the 239 if I'm going with a right side or small of the back holster.
Both are great weapons but I seem to be more consistant with the 239.
Then again the 239 is going to cost a little more and if you get it in 9MM you can later (if you so desire) buy a .40 slide for it where, as far as I know, you can't with the 75B.

including the P-01 and the 239 mentioned in the original post. It is a hard chore to make meaningful comparisons between superlatives. And, both of these guns are, indeed, superlative pistols. On a purely personal matter of choice I would opt for the P-01. It is a comfortable carry, accurate, built to last, can take a variety of night sights (same as 75B), can carry more rounds, and is extremely well built. FWIW Good shooting;)

I have a CZ-75 Compact (similar to the P-01), and had a P-239.
The problem I had with the P-239 was that even with bigger grips, it was just too small for my hand; it tended to move around a bit. The DA trigger on the CZ is a bit longer than on the SIG, and it could be a problem from someone with a small hand or short fingers.
Since they are both decocker guns, there's no advantage there.
Capacity seems to be the BIG issue -- almost twice as many rounds in the CZ is hard to overlook.

I handled the P-01 yesterday-----nice> I owned a P239 and it would carry better. I am in the same boat and I have decided on the Glock 26. I am no fan of the 9mm and for that matter the Glock but in 9mm, the Glock is hard to beat. You get 11 rounds of ammo in a virtually rust proof package that is easily concealed and accurate enough to get the job done. The clincher for me is you can carry a back up High Cap Glock 19 or 17 mag that will work in the Glock 26.
Sorry to complicate this but I had the same thoughts you did until I checked out the Glock.

Isn't the new CZ RAMI a more direct comparison to the P239? I am also debating between the two. The RAMI is lighter, smaller, and carries more rounds. You can use CZ75 mags in it as spares so you get 15 rounds. It's worth a consideration :)

Essentially I have both. I have the PCR version CZ75. My experience is that the sig P239 is for people with small hands. It is top heavy and wider than the PCR. The PCR feels very natural in the hand and I find it more accurate. Since it cost less, that's another plus. IMHO, the CZ wins hands down.

I think the RAMI is in the Sub compact class. The Sig 239, no matter what they call it...is still a compact. Its too heavy and tall to be a sub.

Yea, thought about the RAMI, there's a gun show in town this weekend, hopefully I'll be able to see and feel one? I know this, I plan on coming home with another pistol.
Thanks for all the info folks! The Sig 239 is really a tad too small for my hand and I am not as excited about the proportions as well. However, I did want to ask for opinions because of some of threads I read hear on them.
Who makes the best night sights for the CZ P-01? I'm talking made especially for it. Can they be ordered that way from CZ or the distributor?

Well......Nights are an ongoing issue for the CZ...LOTS of people are looking at XO or whatever Asheley Dot sights are now. They seem to be offering lots of support to us and we want them to know we like it :D
Shoot well.

I like CZ's and own one but the P01 is much bigger than the 239. I would look at the Rami.

Why do you think they call it "dope"?
The CZ fits better in my hand while the P239 seems awkward. The P239 quality is probably a bit better, but the CZ seems a little better executed.
The answer is to get the CZ and a Sig P229 or 228.

I think the CZ's are as good or better than a Sig quality wise. I will take my CZ75B over any Sig full size 9 milli.
The reason I posted specs. was to give the person here a view on the sizes of various options.
