Heads up GB Remmie

At two minutes before 4PM ET today (about four hours)the auction on a Remmie 1858 in .36 Imported by Hawes date coded XXVI will end.
My truck in in the shop for close to a K.....yesterday my dentist had me make appointments for about one K worth of porcellin. I can't bid. Boy am I bummed out.
It has issues...but don't we all. But it is steel rather than brass and has several differences from my current Pietta .44 which make me suspect...but not know for certain that it is either a Uberti or Euroarms of the smaller frame...but again not sure. It has some nasty rust on the left flats and front sight at the muzzle and the action is described as sticky.
As I type the bid was at $110 + $20 shipping. Personally I feel that even with the known rust that this would require a mask if one won it at that bid.
If one of you goes for it (as I can not but really want to) I would appreciate photos of any work you do on it.
A very sad,
-kBob

Well thanks for posting the pics, especially as before and after. Looks like you did great work on fixing up those flats near the muzzle. What all did you do?
Is this revolver the same one you are looking for internal parts for?
I wish I had gotten it but life catches us on occassion, haven't got those teeth done yet....wife just called from horse show to say there is a problem with the horse trailor.
Likely the closest to a new to me gun for a while will be the yard sale fake SAA in a shadow box with faux US Marshal's badge and B&W photo of some cowboys in it. Looked like one of those zinc replica models, but on getting it home and apart it was a single solid casting of the same with the left side of the cylinder plained off to allow it to be glued to the backing. Gee whiz five bucks down the tubes! Nah, he really likes it setting on his desk and taking the box apart and putting it back together has given me some ideas.
Guess I will have to be content to play with the guns I already have that need work...and maybe some boxing experiments....broo-ha-ha.

Yes, that's the one I need the parts for. The bolt was locking up the cylinder at half cock. I spread the fingers apart and now it pops up just past half cock. Still way too soon. I could use it like that I just don't like the bolt dragging like that.
The good news, the bore and chambers are pristine.
I carded the rust off lightly with a wire wheel. It came right off with no pitting and 90% of the blue remained. I touched it up with oxpho blue and it's as good as new.:)

That would be a great one to defarb. You could draw file the barrel flats and there's be no sign of the previous rust.

What does "defarb" mean ?

"Defarb" is a verb meaning to remove markings and/or features on a modern item to make it appear to be an antique, or older than it actually is.
"Farb" is a term used by reenactors to describe someone who pays little attention to historical accuracy or authentic features. It is a derogatory, or insulting, term. Thus to "defarb" is to remove things that prevent something from appearing to be authentic.

Got the parts in from S&S Firearms and timing is on the money now.
Here's my first group at 25 yds. Looks like it might be a shooter. This was with my homemade powder.
