Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has a red dot on their T/C. I have a T/C Contender, 14" barrel, in 35 Remington. Real hand cannon, even Magna-ported. I've gone through 2 - BSA RD30 red dots. I knew they would not hold up too long, about 100 rounds, but they were cheap. I'm looking to get a better red dot, but I don't want to break the bank. From my research, the Vortex Strikefire looks to be in my price range and they say it holds up. Anyone have any experience with that red dot? Any comments will be appreciated! Thanks

P.S. On another forum, someone recommended the Ultradot. They said it holds up well on hard hitting handguns. Anyone have any experience with that one?

Mind if I ask why you're only interested in red dots and not a scope?

I like the easy target aquisition and no eye relief to worry about. I found with my last 2 red dots that where the red dot is the bullet will hit.

Fair enough. In that case, you're going to need to drop some coin on a good red dot that can handle the abuse. I've seen guys with Eotechs on there's and they love them.

I don't think my budget would allow an Eotech or Aimpoint. I ordered an Ultradot 30 today. I've heard they should hold up. We'll see.

Nice. Didn't even think about the Ultradot. I bet it serves you well.

I had an AIM POINT red dot on my T/C 14" .45-70 Contender and never had any issues.
BTW, THAT's a "hand cannon".;)
And unported :D

A buddy of mine uses a Burris Fastfire II on his .480 S&W X-Frame, no issues. It has screws that lock the adjustments down after sighting in.

I own one, my only complaint was the autoadjusting illumination. The Fastfire III addresses this, with presets in addition to autoadjust. On the III you can also change the battery without removing the sight.

If you're considering the Vortex Strikefire, take a look at the SPARC. Red only, as opposed to the Strikefire, but the form factor is smaller.
