M27 8-shot?

I have been looking into revolvers lately because I'm about to turn 21 in April, and I seem to remember 8-shot M27s. I think it was about a year ago and they came in 4" and 6" barrel lengths. Does anybody know anything about these, are they PC guns or stocking dealer specials? Or any personal experience owning the gun would be greatly appreciated.

They had the top-strap checkering like the originals, but that's about where the similarity ends. They have the modern MIM lockwork, and frame-mounted firing-pin. The front ejector rod lock was not installed, and a crane-ball lock was used instead.
The two I've handled were very nice in the fit and finish area as one 'should' expect from a limited PC gun.;)

Thanks, VictorLouis. I have been trying to find some stuff about it here and even on TFL, but couldn't find anything. I love revolvers, especially Smiths and especially PC or special run revolvers. The problem is they're there one minute and then there's no trace of them. I think I may have to use my dreamweaver skills to use so I can make a website showcasing PC and special Smith and Wessons.

I know PC makes the 627. thats a 51/2 inch SS 8 shot 357. It's kind of a goofy looking thing. It's got a squareish barrel and a slanted underlug. It looks kinda goofy...but it feels good to hold. It's a gunstore available item. It's on the S&W PC website. I think they are a little pricey...but then again, they all are.

Victor Louis,
As this was a Performance Center offering, I think you'll find that the parts are forged, not MIM. Just an FYI

I have a S&W PC 627 5" eight shooter. It is amazingly easy to shoot very good groups in DA mode. I shoot it a little less well in SA mode which is unusual, at least for me. It is a very nicely made revolver. I would prefer a little more weight in the barrel.
They are still listed on S&W's PC web page:

You might want to call S&W and ask where your dealer could shop for a PC 627.
Unless you are absolutely fixed on the "eight shooter" I suggest you consider the S&W Model 686 Plus (seven shooter). The 4" model has very nice balance and it is several hundred dollars less than the PC 627.
Good luck,
Rich

Rich357, I was looking up information about the M27(Blued) revolver that PC put out about one or two years ago. It looks just like the old 27s on the outside, but have the eight shot cylinder like the 627. Thanks anyway.
I am interested in a 686P, especially the new 686P (5" half lug).

444...No offense intended brother. I was by no means commenting on the quality or fit and finish of said gun. Or on your taste. I was just stating my opinion on the unconventional design. I have one on my short list. I was wondering if it would work for a ccw.

A bit dated now, but they are making these, including several eight shooters this year.....
