I have a 4in barrel S&W 686 .357 mag with 2 piece rubber grips. I'm looking for a good solid holster. Doesn't need to be concealed, just something to wear on the hip.
Any recommendations from 686 users?

I have a 686, but no holster for it.
However, I do have a Garrett Industries "Silent Thunder" for my 1911. If I were looking for a holster for my 686, I'd get a "Silent Thunder". They are very well made with leather lined kydex. They have adjustable cant and lots of mounting options. They are very solid, and the leather lined kydex must be experienced to appreciate.

Comp-Tac. Best holster for a 4" 686 I have ever used. Kydex: water proof, sweat proof, retains shape, very fast yet holds on with great retention, and very quick to re-holster without having to look at the holster. True, kydex does wear a finish in some spots, but the 686 is a working sidearm that was made to be carried and used.

I love mine for my 4" 686 plus.
