sub-moa September 23, 2012, 05:39 PM WADR, FWIW...that '75C is a "Sport Model". FN didn't designate any of their BHPs as MkI, they jumped right to the MkII in 1981 and the MkIII in 1989. The MkI was produced by Inglis in Canada during WWII...

Ian Johnson September 23, 2012, 11:05 PM ok so if yall had to choose which one one would you go with? Im stuck between these two
-a new browning http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/detail.asp?fid=007B&cid=051&tid=001&bg=x
-or a REALLY nice surplus one http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=307348727
am I really getting my money's worth going new?
crazysccrmd September 24, 2012, 12:46 AM Mine's a FEG but all the FN/Browning parts I've used have been a drop in fit. Recently refinished this one myself.

bannockburn September 26, 2012, 02:00 PM Here's my vintage MkIII Hi-Power along with an equally vintage Gerber Mk.I. This particular Hi-Power was gifted with great accuracy and one of the nicest trigger pulls right out of the box; I didn't even need to take out the mag safety. Along with the improved high visibility sights and extended safety this is one great shooting Hi-Power.

Vintage MkII ;) BHPs such as yours might not have the glossy finish beloved by many fans, but they're the first with the "Everything you need and nothing you don't" attitude. Mk IIs introduced the straight feedramp, ambi-extended thumb safety, larger...usable as is fixed sights (the front sight sure isn't coming out ;)), matte finish and tougher contoured plastic grips...the "drain hole" was was a nice touch as well. There are some who even like the FPS, introduced late in MkII production. The Mk II certainly served as an effective test-bed for the subsequent MkIII, with most MkII features carrying over to the later MkIII. Carried a MkII on duty on a daily basis througout the eighties...until a department edict required DA/SA pistols :(...
Gordon September 27, 2012, 10:12 AM Notice the MK2 in MY above picture is cocked? It stays cocked and locked and loaded as it is my favorite Hi Power. Only mod it needed is the Alumagrips I put on it and I did put a C&S hammer - about perfect !
Rock185 September 27, 2012, 02:05 PM I have owned quite a few, both factory and custom, over the last four decades, but am down to just these now. A GP Comp, T-Series, FN MK.III with cast frame and FN/Browning MK.III with forged frame and lanyard.

What kind of grips are thoughs on the MKIII with the Lanyard? Thanks.
SouthernBoy September 28, 2012, 11:58 AM I bought mine in 1989 and it looks like this;
http://www.google.com/imgres?hl=en&sa=X&biw=1002&bih=565&tbm=isch&prmd=imvns&tbnid=UFGTcBDXgaNTVM:&imgrefurl=http://www.gunup.com/pistol/browning/hi-power/mark-iii&docid=HbZWkFkM19HE-M&imgurl=http://media.gunup.s3.amazonaws.com/handgun_images/images/051001394/051001394_1.jpg&w=533&h=367&ei=_8hlUMCWLJS30gGz1ID4Dg&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=616&sig=107885879387615813541&page=1&tbnh=112&tbnw=162&start=0&ndsp=15&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0,i:80&tx=79&ty=48
It has been tuned by a competent gunsmith and is one which I will never sell.

Bullet Bob September 29, 2012, 10:13 AM nwilliams - nice looking gun. Do you have a picture of the front; what's going on there? Some sort of screw-in bushing?
Rembrandt - love the Renaissance. I've wanted one since I saw one in a gunshop in Columbia SC in the very early 70's.

csa77,
I sent my order for two sets of Cocobolo grips about four months ago and I'm still waiting. I've heard up to a 6 month wait...crazy! Things seem to move slowly in the BHP world. I've been waiting for months for a holster and four months for custom work being done of one of my BHPs.
