Shooting yesterday @ 100 yds in bright sunlight. The red dot just washed out. Anyone else have this issue? What to do about it?

It must have been very, very bright. My 512 gets so bright it kinda hurts my eyes. Did you have it turned up all the way? Did you try changing the batteries?

X2. My 512 will get so bright that it will leave the reticle burned into your eye when you blink. I suppose it would be hard to see if I pointed it directly at the sun. ;)

Are you sure you have a REAL EOtech?

I looked at/through a knock-off eotech at a gun show. I can see as how it woud have wash out problems, but a real eotech not so much.

When you say "The red dot just washed out", what reticle do you have? The standard A65 (dot inside a 65 MOA circle) or the single dot reticle (no 65 MOA circle)? I can't imagine the standard reticle washing out - I have a 512 and an EXPS2, and have never experienced washout in bright sunlight. I assume you did increase the brightness?

Ditto all. Shot at all times of the day under cloudless desert sun, never had the EOTech "wash out." Dial it up all the way, reticle stands out clearly (never tried looking directly through it at the sun), never a problem.
