Looking to install an ambi safety on a Kimber Pro Carry Series I.
Are all 1911 style safeties the same?
If you cant tell, Im pretty new in the 1911 business.
Got a buddy that has an ambi safety off a Colt and only wants $10 for it. Its like new but I dont know if it will work in the Kimber.
Thanks guys.

Due to the fact this is a 'safety', and that all guns are slightly different in tolerances, I would suggest installation by a competent gunsmith. The relationship to the frame, sear and disconnect is paramount for proper fit and safety. Hope this helps.

Lenny;
I wouldn't do the Colt on a Kimber, particularly if it's off an older Colt. A lot of the reason that Springfield & Kimber were able to just about drive Colt out of the 1911 business, were Colt's sloppy tolerances & manufacturing methods.
I had a smith install a Wilson ambi safety on my Kimber in the late 90's. He charged me LESS than he quoted. Said he'd never had one go so easy, he was used to working on Colts.
The feel of it is first class all the way. Just my .02 though.
