Hi All,

This seems the most appropriate place, but perhaps this belongs in the rifle section.

I was wondering if it would be feasible to put a 22lr silencer on an AR15 when used with a 22lr conversion unit.

I've heard that the rate of twist in a typical AR15 barrel isn't enough to fully stabilize a typical 22lr round, so I'm concerned that the bullet might start tumbling after exiting the barrel & hit a baffle in the silencer.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Yes you can. I shoot my AR all the time with my conversion unit and suppressor. I have not noticed any damage yo the baffles or suppressor tube. I know that GEMTECH does not recommend the Aguilar SSP subsonic because they supposedly do not stabilize but I have shot them in my GT Outback and saw no issues.

The AR is a 1:9 twist. Most .22LR are 1:16 or so twist. The AR will spin the .22LR faster than it needs to stabilize. Should be fine for your suppressor/etc.
