I need any information that all you experts can give, I have a Marlin 1987 357 mag 1894 (no C ) but on the receiver there is a stamp (JM) in a circle.18" barrel, holds 10-shells. It was called a saddle Gun, Any imput will help. Thank you all. Ed

stamp (JM) in a circle.That is the Marlin proof mark used on all Marlins manufactured prior to the Remington takeover in 2010.
JM stands for John Marlin, the founder of the company.
Other then that, you know about as much about it as I do if you know it was made in 1987, and has an 18" barrel..
I believe the correct name Marlin used was Saddle Ring Carbine, not saddle gun.
