I know we already have a sub-forum (and it's really an EXCELLENT one) on handloading and reloading, but I was wondering if we could have one just for ammo in general such as questions on brands, surplus, best ammo for SD questions, etc. Right now it's a bit confusing for example I want to ask a question about the Remington USGI surplus 22lr ammo for sale, but do I put that in rifle though it could be fired in a handgun, or revolver, or even General Gun discussion (I'm putting it in general gun discussion FWIW)?

I honestly think it could go in either section you mentioned.

If you're asking about using it in a handgun, ask in the handgun section. Same for the rifle section if you are shooting a rifle. I also think if it's a 'general' question (asking about prices, etc) seems general to me...so it could go there as well. That's strictly my opinion though...

Agreed, maybe a subforum would be appropriate but who knows. If the mods don't like it where you put it, they'll certainly change it for you. I'm sure this has been brought up before and I'm sure there's a reason why we don't have one today.

One thing I know I like about THR is its simplicity in browsing...not a lot of subforums to get 'caught up' in when looking for specific things. They focus on CONTENT and not so much trivial things

Oh I agree about the simplicity as I've seen some that look like you need a roadmap to get around, but THR is still fairly beefy. I just think even designating the Handloading/Reloading forum to the Handloading/Reloading/Factory/Surplus one might help, but then again I like the drilled down detail of that forum, hence why I think another one might be apt. I concur on general and I post there a lot, but sometimes I feel I just post there by default.

I agree this has most likely come up before and I'll hear soon why it's the way it is (though maybe not from Larry Potterfield). :)
